Wall of Tears

Approaching the wall

The party save for the Fighter moves to the wall of tears.

(Ah...)

(You've seen this before.)

Siffrin turns to the right, the Fighter begins moving towards the wall of tears.

First loop

(You watch your step.)

Subsequent loops

(You get ready.)

Fighter (happy1) Alright let's gooooooooo--

The Fighter stops moving and jumps in place a few times.

(You catch the big guy before he goes too far.)

Housemaiden (awkward2) Oh!

First loop

Kid (uwah1) Huh?

The screen shakes, the Fighter and Researcher turn to Siffrin.

Fighter (embarassed4) WAH!  Wh-what?  What is it???

The Fighter turns to the tears.

Fighter (surprised1) Is it the water?  Should I not touch the weird floating water???

Siffrin faces the tear wall of tears.

Researcher (oof1) ...Wait.  This is...

Researcher (worried3) ........

The following image is displayed one half at a time.

A two panel image, separated by a verticle line in the middle. On the left half, Odile picks up a rock. On the right half, Odile is preparing to throw the rock at an out of frame target.

The following image is displayed one third at a time.

A three panel image, with each part separated by a verticle line. The first panel shows Odile nonchalantly throwing the rock, with the word throw being overlayed like an onomatopoeia. In the second panel, the rock is being shown flying at a tear. The final panel shows the rock hitting the tear, it freezes, and the onomatopoeia BZZT is displayed.

The final panel in the last image changes

A three panel image, with the first two being the same as the last image. The last panel has changed to be the rock touching the tear, stationary, with no words around it.

Kid (surprised1) Oh!

Housemaiden (awkward2) OH!!!

The screen shakes and the Fighter jumps.

Fighter (embarassed4) OH!!!  THE ROCK FROZE WHEN IT TOUCHED THE WATER!!!

Housemaiden (wondering1) Oh, indeed.

Researcher (angry1) Do NOT approach those. We'd probably get stuck in time just like everything else...

Fighter (wondering2) It wouldn't hurt too much though, right?

Researcher (readingup1) What, being frozen in time?

Researcher (reading1) Theoretically, it wouldn't, no.

Fighter (surprised2) ... Theoretically?

Researcher (smile1) Yes, theoretically. Why, would you care to try it out?

Kid (neutral2) I've heard that being frozen makes you go to sleep, and gives you a super good dream!

The Housemaiden turns to the Kid.

Housemaiden (smile3) Oh?

The Fighter turns to the Kid.

Fighter (wondering1) Oh???

The Researcher turns to the Kid.

Researcher (wondering2) Oh...  Where did you hear that from?

Kid (ew2) Ah,  um...

Kid (sad2) Um...  A nice lady told me that when my sister got frozen...

A sweat icon displays over the Fighter and Housemaiden's heads.

Fighter (ohfuck2) OH!

Housemaiden (awkward2) OH!!!

Researcher (oof1) Oh...

The Kid jumps three times.

Kid (angry1) I-I know it's not true!!!  I'm not stupid!!!

Kid (sad1) Just...  It would be nice...  if that was true.

Kid (sad1) So...

Kid (sad1) ...

Kid (phew1) So you should touch the weird frozen water and be frozen and let me know how it goes!!!

Fighter (embarassed4) Pass...

The screen darkens.

(You let the conversation go on without you.)

(You know that while being frozen in time doesn't hurt,   it doesn't bring you a wonderful dream either.)

(It's just like   missing a stair step and being stuck in midair, forever.)

(Almost restful, in a way.)

The screen returns to normal.

Housemaiden (wondering1) Well, there must be a way to make this water disappear somehow... Let's look around a bit more.

Second loop

The screen fades to black.

(One more loop, one more close call.)

(You couldn't catch him in time, once. It was before you started making sure the housemaiden knew how to make someone's time move again.    There was nothing any of you could do.)

(  You had to leave him behind.)

(His face, frozen in eternal surprise...)

(If you slept still, the sight would haunt your dreams.)

(But you try to only repeat your last few hours, so.   Small mercies.)

The screen fades back in.

Housemaiden (worried1) --must be a way to make them disappear somehow...  Let's look around a bit more.

Third loop onwards

The screen fades to black.

(He's fine,  he's fine,  he's doing fine.)

(You look at the floating tears for the required amount of time.)

The screen fades back in.

Housemaiden (worried1) --must be a way to make them disappear somehow...  Let's look around a bit more.

Interacting without the Star Crest

(You're already tired.)

(Take a nap?)

  • Yep.

    (One more step.)

Fighter (embarassed1) Sif? What are y--

    (You raise your hand.)

    You die.

  • No...

    (You'll die soon enough anyway.)

Siffrin steps away from the tears.

Interacting with the Star Crest

(Use the STAR CREST to clear the way?)

  • Yes

    (You used the STAR CREST.)

The screen tints white for a second.

(You throw the crest into the tears, then watch them all melt away...)

If you found the star crest before walking up to the wall of tears

Researcher (wondering2) Oh, that thing you found...?

Kid (excited1) The thing you found made the weird water go away!!!

Researcher (wondering1) Probably a good thing...  I don't want to know what would've happened if we touched those.

You get one weird point for this.

  • No

Siffrin moves away from the tears.
